Educator Engagement

Significant work is being done across Illinois by a wide variety of stakeholders, including the Northern Illinois University College of Education, to increase both the diversity and the amount of individuals in the career development pipeline to become educators. Despite these efforts, without addressing issues of educator retention, the teacher shortage cannot be effectively resolved. To this end, the Illinois P-20 Network is taking on a statewide leadership role with regards to educator retention and engagement professionally throughout their careers at all levels with:

Educational Coaching Network – The Educational Coaching Network (ECN) connects educators who want to learn, collaborate, and problem-solve to improve their Instructional Coaching programs and practices.
KEEP Illinois – Keeping Educators Engaged Professionally – The goal of this grassroots action team is to do just that for educators across Illinois serving all levels of education. The goal of KEEP Illinois is not just to solve educator retention for early childhood educators, educators working in school districts, and educators working in postsecondary environments, but to create and implement structures, policies, and practices that allow and encourage educators to grow and flourish throughout their careers.
