NIU Illinois CTE Project
The Northern Illinois University Illinois Career and Technical Education (CTE) Project is one component of the Illinois P-20 Network’s Career and College Readiness Area of Focus. The NIU Illinois CTE Project is a partnership with the Illinois State Board of Education’s CTE team to:
- Engage educators in professional learning statewide related to CTE and the Illinois Career Pathways
- Create new and modify existing instructional materials for direct use in the classroom to promote engagement and access for all students
- Enhance CTE teacher recruitment and retention efforts to ensure that CTE classrooms across Illinois have high quality CTE teachers who can connect with, support, and challenge all learners
- Implement the annual ISBE Career Connections Conference
The NIU Illinois CTE Project team collaborates with ISBE and with educators across the state in working to meet the objectives listed above.
Examples of current NIU Illinois CTE Project efforts include:
